Pick The Right Pain Rehab Doctor

Are you or your loved one suffering from either acute or chronic pain? The first thought that may enter your head is a chiropractor local to you. While chiropractors may offer procedures that appear attractive and promising, They may not offer the type of treatment needed to recover from serious injury.

Picking the right physician can be exhausting and just as painful as your current condition. The right physician or medical facility should have a history of diagnosing and treating painful conditions from accident and injury. The reputation of both the on staff physician and how the the medical facility treats its patients is important.

So what exactly is a Physiatrist?

A physiatrist is a doctor that specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Physiatrists are physicians that treat acute and chronic pain and musculoskeletal disorders. Often treating patients with back pain from a work related injury or car accident, an athlete who sprains an ankle or his or her knee, or a wide variety of injuries sustained in the workplace.

Physiatrists after diagnosing a patients condition and health history will recommend a pain management and rehabilitation program for the patients road to recovery.

Physiatrists have been or are currently employed by a hospital, or medical center, or run their own private practice. Psychiatrists educate and counseling patients including prescribing medications.
